The production of one of the most awaited bikes, the BMW G310R has finally commenced at the TVS plant in Hosur, near Bangalore. The launch of the bike is expected to be sometime around the month of October this year.
The BMW G310R is one of the much-awaited bikes to enter the Indian market. The production of the bike has finally started at TVS’s Hosur plant near Bangalore. This plant will also act as the production hub for other global markets for the bike as well. The fact that the production of the bike being made globally will help the German giant to aggressively price and position the bike into the already competitive Indian market.
The G310R is one of the first bikes to be built by the BMW-TVS alliance. It is also the smallest capacity bike to be built by BMW. The joint venture between BMW and TVS started 2 years ago, marking the second innings of BMW Mottorad into the Indian market. The joint venture of BMW with TVS is similar to that of the highly successful venture between Bajaj and KTM.
The G310R will come with a 313cc engine producing around 34HP with 28Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed gearbox. It will also feature 300mm disc in the front and 240mm disc at the rear, along with upside down forks and Metzeler rubber. The bike will be in direct competition to the KTM 390 and the Mahindra Mojo.
The pricing of the G310R according to reports has been revealed by a dealer in the UK to be around Rs. 3.89 lakhs, which after all the considerations calculates up to Rs. 1.8 – 1.9 Lakhs (Ex-showroom) for the Indian market. This if true, could cause a major challenge for the KTM Duke 390. However the prices at this point are still speculative, hence we will have to wait until October of this year for any actual price confirmations.
