The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, popularly known as the G-Wagon, will undergo minor changes to both its interiors and exteriors. The SUV will get a wider track helping in increasing its cabin space. The increase in cabin space will further lead to minor upgradations of its interiors with the new model to get Mercedes’s all new Infotainment system as well.

The SUV will receive changes to its engine line-up as well. At present, it gets the options of either a six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine or an eight-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, while the high-performance models get the 6.0-litre turbocharged V12 and 4.0-litre ‘hot-vee’ turbocharged V8 options. While the engines pertaining to the high-performance models will remain unchanged, the six-cylinder diesel engine could be replaced with the 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine of the E-Class which is more efficient. The new E-Class engine which the G-Wagon will share is said to produce around 257HP of power and is compliant with the Euro VI emission standards.

No other upgrade can be expected from Mercedes-Benz for their G-Wagen which is under development stage preparing for pre-production testing. Mercedes-Benz will keep the same boxy design which has been their signature design for the G-Class right from the time original model in 1979. The new model of the G-Wagen will make its debut late next year with a possible launch in 2018.
