Renault India is planning to launch five new models in the next three years.
Although the Duster and the Kwid went on to become extremely popular and best-sellers, the French car maker’s other cars have not proved to be popular. They are struggling to sell the other cars. To help increase sales, Renault India is planning to launch five new models over the next three years. The new cars will be targeted at different segments.
The first new car will be the new Megane sedan, which is expected to be a little more expensive than the Honda City. It could replace the Fluence sedan. More details on the car for the Indian market is not available. The Megane will be followed by the next generation of the Renault Koleos. It will be launched by the end of next year or early 2017 and will rival the Hyundai Santa Fe.
The Koleos will then be followed by the Kaptur 7-seater SUV. It will be priced more than their Duster and SUV and it will compete against the Mahindra XUV 500 and the Honda BRV. The other two cars have not been confirmed yet. One is likely to be a sub-4 metre SUV that will sit below the Duster and compete with the Ford Ecosport and the Mahindra TUV 300, while the other is likely to be a van or MPV that will be based on the CMF-A platform and will take on the Maruti Suzuki Eeco.
Renault’s current line-up in India consists of the Kwid hatchback, Pulse hatchback, Scala sedan, Lodgy MPV, Duster SUV, Fluence sedan and the Koleos SUV. Prices start at INR 2.76 lakhs and goes up to INR 28.32 lakhs. All prices are ex-showroom.
