Skoda recently released teasers of the all new Skoda Kodiaq, while also announcing its world premiere on 1st September 2016 ahead of its debut at this year’s Paris Motor Show.
The new design language of Skoda’s new crossover/SUV range was previewed with the showcasing of the VisionS Concept. The Skoda Kodiaq is the first 3-row crossover to be made available in the market. Once launched, it will most probably be made the flagship model for the Czech carmaker. The Kodiaq will be an equivalent crossover to the present Skoda Superb.
The Skoda Kodiaq will be based on the MQB Platform of the Volkswagen Group. The new car will come in the similar TSI and TDI versions for the petrol and diesel variants respectively. The petrol engine will produce anywhere between 125HP to 175HP power output, while the diesel engine will produce between 150HP to 190HP power output. Transmission choices for the Kodiaq will be the 6-speed manual gearbox and the DSG dual-clutch automatic.
The Skoda Kodiaq will debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, with its European launch expected in early 2017. The SUV for the European market will be available in both the 5-seater and the 7-seater versions. The Indian market though might get a different strategy and we will have to wait till the launch, which might happen sometime around late 2017.
A sneak peak pre-production prototype of the Skoda Kodiaq though was available for everyone to see at the recently held Tour De France competition. The car was wrapped in a red, grey and black camouflage matching the Tour’s ‘Red Car’ which was a Corrida red Skoda Superb. The ‘Red Car’ of the tour acts as a mobile control centre for the race.
