The new Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 will be getting a higher power output and it has been revealed via a leaked order guide.
When it was revealed in March, the American car maker, General Motors, said that their 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 would produce 640 bhp and 640 pound-feet of torque. However, a leaked order guide for the 2017 model suggests that the power output is actually 650 bhp and 650 pound-feet of torque (881 Nm).
Although the figure is extremely high for a Camaro, it is not at all surprising when you see what is powering this car. The engine is a 6.2-litre supercharged V8 that also powers the Corvette ZO6. Called the LT4, it will be paired to a 6-speed manual transmission or a new 10-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Based on the new lightweight sixth generation Camaro’s Alpha platform, it is expected to accelerate from a stand still to 60 mph in around 3 seconds.
The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 will be put on sale in the US later this year. Initially, it will be available only as a coupe. The convertible will be launched in 2017 and the Z/28 will follow it the same year.
