The Tesla Model Y has been confirmed as the next SUV from the American giant.
The new model was confirmed by the electric car maker on Twitter. The Tesla Model Y will be a compact SUV, which will sit below the current Tesla SUV, the Model X.
The all-electric compact SUV will be based on the new Model 3, which is the cheapest Tesla model you can buy now. Tesla CEO, Elon Musk said that the vehicle was still in its early stages of development but could be revealed as early as next year.
The Model Y will be followed by an electric pick-up with a van based on it and an electric minibus. They will be based on the Model X SUV.No further details on the SUV are currently available.
Last month, Elon Musk revealed a new master plan called ‘Master Plan, Part Deux’. This is their second Master Plan. The first plan consisted of the Model S, Model X and the Model 3, as well as the solar power products. The second plan consists of the Model Y, pick-up, and a minibus.
The new Master Plan also talks about developments in autonomous technology, to allow cars to be summoned from anywhere. Musk also talks about a car sharing plan, that allows others to use a car when the owner is not using it.
