The upcoming 2018 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 has been seen testing with camouflage. It could be the most powerful stock Mustang ever built.

The 2018 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is expected to be based on the current Shelby GT350 Mustang. However, as the spy pictures suggest, the car will get a new meaner front end with more aggressive air intakes to feed air to a massive engine under the bonnet. The rear of the car remains largely similar to the GT350R, with a new rear spoiler.

Powering what could be the most powerful stock Mustang will be a new twin-turbo┬áV8 engine. It could be based on the 5.0-litre unit in the Mustang GT or the 5.2-litre unit found on the GT350. Both engines are currently naturally aspirated. The engine will produce more power than the new Camaro ZL1‘s 650 bhp V8 engine and more than the old GT500’s 662 bhp, which was powered by a supercharged V8 engine.

The powerful engine will be paired with a manual transmission as standard. It will also get the option of a 10-speed automatic transmission, which was co-developed with Chevrolet and will be used in the Camaro ZL1.
