The new 2017 Honda Civic hatchback is the latest addition to the tenth generation of the Civic lineup
The 2017 Honda Civic hatchback joins the Civic sedan and the Civic coupe. The sedan won the 2016 North American Car of the Year award.
The new Japanese hatchback will be available in LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Sport Touring trims. All the trims will be powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. In the LX, EX and EX-L trims, it produces 174 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. In the Sport and the Sport Touring versions, it produces 180 hp and the same amount of torque. All variants will be available with a CVT automatic transmission as standard. The LX, Sport, and EX trims get the option of a 6-speed manual transmission. The combined EPA fuel economy figures for the CVT-equipped car is 34 mpg.
The hatchback comes equipped with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, LED headlights, heated front and rear seats, heated side mirrors and remote engine start.
The 2017 Honda Civic hatchback gets a 5-star NCAP safety rating. It comes equipped with Honda Sensing safety features which includes Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Forward Collision Warning (FCW) integrated with CMBS, Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Departure Warning integrated with RDM and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow.
The Civic hatchback for the American market will be made in Honda’s manufacturing plant in Swindon, UK. Production and export has commenced. Production of the European-spec car will begin by the end of the year and sales will start in 2017.
