Aprilia SR 150 marks its entry into Indian markets. First ever crossover automatic to debut in the country.
Piaggio owned Aprilia has finally ended the wait for Aprilia SR 150, with bookings open in dealerships across the country. It comes with a price tag of Rs. 65,000(ex-showroom Delhi), which is a great deal given Aprilia’s brand value.
As unorthodox as it might sound, the Aprilia SR 150 has a quirky mix of aerodynamic design from its sports bike siblings and comfort of an automatic scooter. It definitely is a crossover in a true sense and will certainly take its stance in the Indian markets soon.
High rise pillion seat, dual headlamps on the beak, and indicators to the sides of the handlebar add to its sporty looks. It has provision for USB phone charging as well. The only non-trendy factor about it is the analogue instrument panel. The chassis rests on 14-inch wheels. Telescopic fork suspensions have been adopted for an easier ride on the rough road conditions. Disc brake clutches the wheel on the front end ,while a drum brake governs the rear wheel. The scooter will be available in matte white and black colours with stylish body graphics on it.
What makes the Aprilia SR 150 stand out in its segment is, of course, its engine capacity. Unlike the conventional 110-125cc engines out there, the SR 150 displaces 150cc from a single cylinder. It develops 11.40bhp of power and a torque of 11.5Nm. The transmission is based on a CVT automatic.
The Aprilia SR 150 has not only been aggressively styled but also priced in a similar fashion. This is owing to the fact that it will be produced here in India at Baramati ,Maharashtra. This not only drops transportation charges but also enables the company to meet the demand for supply easily.
Vespa and Motoplex dealerships in some parts of the country like in Pune and Chennai have already begun accepting bookings. Pre-bookings can also be done on paytm.com with a deposit of Rs 2000. As of now the Aprilia SR 150 with European standards looks promising at a great price. However, the price may shoot up after Diwali.
