The Skoda Rapid facelift has been launched in India at INR 8.27 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi)
The new Skoda Rapid facelift gets new front and rear bumpers, grille, headlights and a minor update to the tail light. While the front does see a lot of changes, the side profile and rear remain nearly identical. The design is in tune with Skoda’s latest design language.
On the inside, the car remains largely the same. However, it gets more equipment including cruise control, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, automatic climate control and MirrorLink touchscreen infotainment system.
The most talked about addition to the new Skoda Rapid facelift is a new engine. The powerplant in question is a 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine that made its debut in the Volkswagen Ameo compact sedan. In the Rapid, it produces 108 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. It comes paired to a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. The other engine on offer is a 1.6-litre MPI petrol engine producing 103 bhp. It is mated to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed tiptronic automatic transmission.
The Skoda Rapid starts at INR 8.27 lakhs and goes up to INR 11.36 lakhs for the petrol car while the diesel starts at INR 9.48 lakhs and goes up to INR 12.67 lakhs. All prices are in ex-showroom, Delhi. The sedan competes with the Volkswagen Vento, Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Nissan Sunny, Renault Scala, Toyota Etios and the Fiat Linea.
