Maruti Suzuki Ignis Teased On Nexa Website; Launch Soon

Maruti’s premium car retailer Nexa has teased the arrival of the Suzuki Ignis ahead of its India launch on 13th January 2017.

Maruti has started building up the anticipation for the launch of their new Suzuki Ignis set to enter the Indian shores on January next year. The Ignis will be the first of the new line of cars entering the Indian market for Maruti. It will also be the third model from the company to be sold in their Nexa premium dealership.

The Suzuki Ignis will get both the tried and tested 1.2-litre petrol and the 1.3-litre diesel engines

The Suzuki Ignis will get the same 1.2-litre petrol and the 1.3-litre diesel engine as the rest of the standard Maruti offerings. The Ignis will get the diesel engine in India, though in international markets the car is offered only in either the petrol or the hybrid petrol versions. Both the petrol and the diesel variants will get the manual transmission as standard while the AMT automatic transmission will be an option.

The Nexa website asks for customers to fill up registration forms through which further details regarding the specifications and notifications of the launch can be communicated to interested customers. A concept version of the same was displayed at the 2016 Auto Expo, the design of which will be carried on the production version without any major changes. The Suzuki Ignis is confirmed to be the replacement to Maruti’s Ritz.

Suzuki Ignis Interiors
The interiors of the Suzuki Ignis will be more premium with new features like SmartPlay Floating infotainment system

The Maruti Suzuki Ignis gets a boxy shape design, with a simplistic front grille and rounded off headlamps with U-shaped DRLs adding to its appearance. Sources also suggest that Maruti will fill the Ignis with premium interior bits like new switchgear, steering wheel, floating infotainment system with SmartPlay.

Once launched, the Suzuki Ignis will be placed below the Baleno. Test mules have already been seen a couple of times on the Indian shores. The Ignis will be in direct competition with Mahindra’s KUV100 and the Datsun Go-Cross, hence it is safe to assume that the car will be priced in the same bracket at around Rs. 5 – 8 Lakhs.
