The Skoda Karoq, the brand new Compact SUV is all set to world premiere later this month. Here are the full details and specifications of Skoda’s Yeti replacement.
Skoda Karoq is a brand new compact SUV from Skoda, meant to be a replacement to the Yeti. It will be in one segment below the Skoda Kodiaq. With its world premiere showcase expected around 18th May this year, its complete details and specifications have been revealed ahead of its debut.
The Skoda Karoq shares the MQB platform with the Skoda Kodiaq, Seat Ateca and VW Tiguan among other vehicles from the Volkswagen group. The new SUV gets five turbocharged engine options with two new petrol options including a 1.0-litre TSI three cylinder and a 1.5-litre TSI which features active cylinder technology. While the diesel variants also get two new engine options which are a 1.6-litre TDI and a new 2.0-litre TDI in addition to the standard 2.0-litre TDI of Skoda. All these engines will either be mated to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The Skoda Karoq will get the option of both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive system.
The new Karoq ditches the unconventional design of its predecessor the Yeti, to a more standard SUV body design with many features similar to the larger Kodiaq, this allows the Karoq to have a big boot with a capacity of 521 litres which increases to 1630 litres with the back seats folded, which is significantly higher than its competitor the Nissan Qashqai both being a five-seater SUV.
Features on the new Karoq includes gesture control for various functions like mobile online connection and wireless phone charging. The top spec of the SUV gets a 9.2-inch screen along with three other displays, with a digital infotainment cluster which is a first for any Skoda. Other drivers assist features which include, hill hold system, radar-based adaptive cruise control with blind spot detection and a front assist. It also includes an automatic braking system with a pedestrian braking system.
It is still not clear whether the Skoda Karoq will enter the Indian market, however, Skoda’s flagship SUV the Kodaiq is readying its Indian-entry.
