The sporty version of the Swift hatchback has been launched at the 2017 Frankfurt International Motor Show.
Ever since the new Swift was launched at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show back in March, we were awaiting the sportier version of the car. It is finally here. The new Suzuki Swift Sport was revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The new Swift Sport has launched its naturally aspirated engine for a turbocharged engine. The 1.4-litre BOOSTERJET engine produces 175hp and 230 Nm of torque. It is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission.
The new car is based on a “HEARTECT” platform that results in a weight reduction of 80kg over the outgoing car. The new one weighs only 970kgs. The handling, which was one of the outgoing car’s strong points, has been improved by a new rear suspension and an improved version of the existing front suspension.
To make it stand out from the regular Swift, the Sport gets a sharper nose and a muscular body, blackened out parts including the A-pillar, 17-inch alloy wheels and dual exhaust tips. On this inside, it has red accents, semi-bucket seats and an instrument cluster with contrasting colours and new boost and oil temperature gauges.
Safety features have also been added. The Suzuki Swift Sport gets a brake support system which assists in preventing front collisions by scanning the road ahead. It also applies the brakes automatically if required. The hatchback also gets lane departure warning, which automatically controls the steering wheel to keep the car in its lane, and a weaving alert function that issues audio and visual warnings.
