The new Renault Megane R.S. has been revealed at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The newly launched Renault Megane R.S. is the third generation of the hot hatch. It is powered by a 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 280hp and 390 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed dual clutch transmission. Handling is assisted by four-wheel steering and a limited slip differential. Five driving modes are available: Comfort, Normal, Sport, Race and Perso.
The hot hatch comes with 18-inch or 19-inch wheels, bigger air intakes for better cooling, a rear lip spoiler for more downforce, rear diffuser, front sports seats, red contrast stitching and optional Alcantara upholstery. The equipment list includes an R-LINK 2 tablet and onboard telemetry system that now allows drivers to connect a camera to film the drive, analyse the data and share the footage on social media.
Bookings for the new Renault Megane R.S. opens in December this year. The French manufacturer has also confirmed that a 300hp ‘Trophy’ version of the hot hatch will be launched by the end of 2018. Expect it to be a limited edition car.
