Production version of the much-awaited Lamborghini Urus has been unveiled in Italy.
The Lamborghini Urus, which is the second SUV from the Italian car manufacturer, has been revealed at in Bologna, Italy. The Urus marks Lamborghini’s re-entry into the SUV market 30 years after their first attempt, the LM002.
Powering the SUV is a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine that revs to 6,800 rpm. It produces 650hp at 6,000 rpm and 850 Nm of torque at 2,250 rpm. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The 0-100 kph time is quoted as 3.6 seconds. while the 0-200 kph is 12.8 seconds. The top speed is rated at 305 kph. This is helped by a low curb weight of just 2,200 kg. The engine gets cylinder deactivation to improve efficiency.
The 4-seater Urus becomes the second Lamborghini after the Aventador S to get rear-wheel steering. Handling is also improved by torque vectoring and just like the Lamborghini supercars, it gets SPORT, STRADA and CORSA modes. To make the Urus equally capable offload, Lamborghini has given it three off-road driving modes. These are TERRA (off-road), NEVE (snow) and SABBIA (sand). NEVE is offered as standard, while TERRA and SABBIA are offered as options. Ground clearance is between 158mm and 248mm and the SUV rides on 21-inch, 22-inch or 23-inch wheels with Pirelli PZero tyres.
The SUV comes with adaptive air suspension and an active roll stabilisation. Carbon ceramic brakes are provided as standard. Safety standards are boosted by a collision mitigation system and an optional traffic management system.
Lamborghini has given the Urus the Lamborghini Infotainment System (LIS) with two touchscreen systems. The system comes with hand-writing compatibility. The SUV gets an 8-speaker sound system as standard, while a 21-speaker, 1,700 watt Bang & Olufsen Sound System is offered as an option. The doors have a touch sensor that gives you access to the car and the rear height can be reduced for easy loading of the boot.
Deliveries for the Lamborghini Urus will begin in Spring 2018. Prices will starts from £131,500 ($200,000).
