The 2 Series is BMW’s first Sports Activity Tourer (SAT)
Both the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer get an update. The update involves minor cosmetic changes, new equipment and new engines.
The 2 Series gets a range of fuel-efficient petrol and diesel engines with power output ranging from 109 hp and 231 hp for the Active Tourer and 109 hp and 192 hp for the Gran Tourer. The four-cylinder diesel engine now gets two turbochargers and all diesel engines will soon get new technology to reduce emissions further. A 224 hp plug-in hybrid variant is also available with an electric range of 28 miles.
The Tourer gets an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission and a six-speed manual transmission. A new seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is also available.
The occupants of this new BMW will be treated to more new tech inside. The car comes with inductive charging, WiFi hotspot, smartphone integration and Real Time Traffic Information. The new tech also includes safety features like a cruise control with adaptive speed regulation and a Traffic Jam Assistant, which keeps the car in lane at speeds of up to 37 mph.
The cosmetic changes include new bumpers, a bigger kidney grille and twin exhaust pipes. A M Sport package is also available on the Active Tourer and the Gran Tourer. The headlights and the fog lights get a redesign with optional LED lights. Six new wheel designs are available with the choice of 17, 18 or 19-inch wheels. Two new exterior colour options and new seat cover options increase personalisation options.
The new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer will be available from March 2018.
